Titan America announces Papadopoulos' retirement

April 10, 2014 - Norfolk, Va. – Officials at Titan Group announced significant organizational changes today.

After 20 years at the helm of Titan America, Aris Papadopoulos will be retiring from the position of Titan America CEO, effective August 1, 2014.  He will become Executive Chairman of ST Equipment & Technologies (STET), reporting to the Group CEO, and also serve as an advisor.

Bill Zarkalis, Group CFO since 2010, will succeed Aris.  Bill, as CEO-designate, will work closely with Aris to ensure a smooth transition.  He joined the Group in 2008 as Director of Business Development and previously held executive positions at Dow Chemical.

Effective May 16, 2014, Michael Colakides will assume the position of Group CFO. A few months ago Michael returned to the Group as Senior Strategy Advisor, after more than a decade in several banking industry executive roles.

Group CEO Dimitri Papalexopoulos commented, “During Aris’ tenure, Titan America grew from a cement JV in Roanoke to the preeminent East Coast construction materials producer.  Aris, more than anyone else, has shaped Titan America over two decades. Please join me in wishing Aris, Bill and Michael success in their new roles.”

Titan America also announced that effective July 1, 2014, Pat Borders, Florida Business President, completes his career with TA. He is being succeeded by Randy Dunlap, who served since 2010 as President, Separations Technologies & Essex.

Separation Technologies and Essex Cement were recently reorganized. One part, based in Needham, MA, will focus on the sale of separation equipment and technology to fly ash and all minerals applications worldwide, under the name ST Equipment & Technology (STET). Remaining operations, which consist of ash processing facilities in the Eastern US and Canada, will be integrated into TA’s Mid-Atlantic (plus the Essex import terminal) and Florida Businesses. They will respectively trade under the name ProAsh North (from S. Carolina north) and ProAsh South (from Georgia south).

Effective April 1, 2014, Mike Allen joined as President, STET. Mike’s experience spans 30 years in international mining and minerals equipment and operations, most recently as Komatsu America Corp’s Vice President of International Sales.

Aris Papadopoulos stated: “We sincerely thank Pat for his 17 years of dedicated service. He has left his imprint as a leader in all three of our business units.  Please join me in welcoming Mike Allen to Titan and wishing to both him and Randy success in their new roles."
